Bio –

Brice Garrett (he/him) uses the position of adornment and objects as a source to think  through ideas of body, production, labor, value, and memory. Working across disciplines,  he utilizes a variety of materials and methods that culminate in wearables, sculptures,  installations, and participatory projects.  Brice is a Brooklyn, New York based artist who has been the recipient of numerous awards  and residencies, including from the Museum of Arts and Design, Tides Institute & Museum  of Art, Queens Council on the Arts, and the Center for Craft. He currently teaches at  Brooklyn Metal Works and the 92nd Street Y, and has previously held teaching positions at  Pratt Institute, Long Island University, and Westchester Community College among others.  Brice received his MFA from Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in  Stockholm, Sweden and a BA from San Diego State University.

Come and escape into the digital with Brice’s work Renderings.

Brice Garrett has often used collaboration as a method of finding forms in his practice. With Renderings, he has taken his usual interactive approach to a new extreme. Visitors are invited to rearrange and collage a collection of silhouettes from screen-grabs and cropped shapes from the barrage of online Artist Talks, Zooms, and Instagram lives. The amorphous shapes were perhaps at one point jewelry, but what they will become is ultimately up to you as you’re invited to click and drag across the screen.
